RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE

  • Change your oil every 5,000 miles.
  • Fuel filters every 15,000 miles.
  • Transmission service every 30,000 to 50,000 miles depending on the severity of use. (heavy towing = 30k)
  • Don't waste money on synthetic oil / synthetic oil is great but soot accumulation contaminates the oil after 5,000 miles.
  • Use OEM or high quality filters / good filters are not cheap and cheap filter are not good.
  • Coolant should be changed every 5 years or 50,000 mile using only OEM recommended fluid and additives.
  • Other fluids such as Transfer case / front and rear axles / power steering and brake fluid should be inspected and changed before loosing their transparency.
  • Air filters need to be changed more often than you think, turbos suck in large amounts of air and particles. Air filter minders don't work very well so don't relay on them.
  • Be aware of noises, you know your truck and the normal sounds that it makes. If it starts making an unfamiliar noise have it checked out. Squeaky brakes or belts are usually an indication of an issue, find it early and save money. Same goes for clunks and rattles.
  • Low fluid levels usually = a leak
